Austin and I started reading the Harry Potter series together June 2007 and finally finished them in May 2008. There are four reasons as to why it took us so long to finish: 1. We were reading them out loud to each other, which meant we had to coordinate two schedules to find reading time 2. We usually read in the evening and one of us would usually fall asleep 3. We got stuck on watching Smallvile and The Office for a while, which took away from our reading time, and 4. The Harry Potter books are fat! They take time to read. So, since Harry Potter has been a big part of our recent life, it seemed only fitting that for Halloween 2008 we were Harry Potter and Hermione Granger. You might ask, "Why not Harry and Ginny?" The answer is: Hermione is the "best witch of her age." Why would I settle for anything less?
I started the project September 29 and finished them October 11. I lost many, many hours of sleep, lost a bit of my sanity too, and my head really hurt towards the end. I used just short of 16 yards of fabric. I'm really glad about how they turned out. Austin's favorite part of the robes are the wand pockets.
